U14 Reds 4 v 0 Hadleigh Utd U14s
Report on the pre season friendly played on 1st September at Deben Sports Field, ahead of next weeks league opener away to Framlingham.
With just eleven players available from the squad of fourteen, the team picked itself. Oscar in goal, Jack, Josh B., Charlie G & Josh C. in defence, George, Charlie O., and Harry in midfield, Jake, Nartey and Matt in attack.
It was a very enjoyable game from a Felixstowe point of view. Smiles on faces, good passing football, and a goal threat. Hadleigh gave us a good game, we stood up to their physical challenge, and then imposed ourselves on the game.
After 30 first half minutes Nartey knocked home from within the 6 Yard box, and moments later, Matt fired in from outside the box with a good shot that sailed over the visitors keeper.
Half Time :- 2 – 0
Jason’s half time team talk, presumably asked for more of the same. Jake had been having a good battle with the Hadleigh defenders down the left wing, and his efforts were rewarded on the 50th minute, when a great diagonal pass found him on the edge of the box. This time he didn’t cross, but shot well, across the keeper, finding the bottom right hand corner of the net. 3-0.
Hadleigh hit our cross bar, but we finished off the game nicely on 70 minutes when George threaded another neat pass to Matt on the right. Matt crossed or shot, but nevertheless it beat the Hadleigh goalie.
F.T. 4-0
Josh B was a worthy man of the match for a solid display in a new position for him. Good performances all over the pitch.
