U14 Reds Win 4-3 Thriller
Report on the first league game of the season for the U14 Reds
Framlingham Town U14 3 v 4 Fxt & Walton U14 Red
Our Suffolk Youth League Div 2 2018/19 campaign began, away, at Framlingham this morning. Both sides had competed in Div. 1 last season, so it was bound to be a close and tough encounter.
Starting line up:- Oscar in goal, back four Harry, Seb, Charlie G and Jack R. In midfield Ellen, Charlie O and George. Matt, Nartey and Jake up front. Subs:- Sankerman, Josh B and Josh C.
The Seasiders suffered an early setback when Framlingham pounced on a loose ball in our penalty area and converted. 0-1. Nartey raised spirits almost immediately with a stunning 30 yard reply that flew past the Fram keeper. 1-1 after just 4 mins.
This set the tone for a fast paced, end to end game. Jack R. made a brilliant goal line clearance at our end and Seb headed wide at the other, following two good corners from Ellen.
Oscar then saved bravely at the feet of onrushing opponents. Another cracking corner from Ellen was cleared back to her feet, her cross was headed in by Seb. 18 mins 2-1.
On 20 minutes Fram were awarded a free kick on the edge of our D. Seb made a great decision to join Oscar on our goal line. Oscar saved the shot with his feet, and Seb was on hand to thump the ball away.
Harry produced a fizzing free kick across the penalty box, which was just begging to be converted.
On 31 mins Fram produced a neat one two on the edge of our box, which was finished off well. 2-2.
Jake had been working hard up and down the left touchline, and his 33rd minute cross was put away by Ellen for her debut league goal for the team. 35 mins – H.T. 3-2.
All three of our subs were utilised for the start of the second half.
Within 2 mins Matt, with his usual tenacity, got down the right, crossed and Jake arrived at the back post to head high into the oppositions net. 4-2.
I think it is fair to report that The Seasiders dominated most of the play in the second period, but couldn’t add further to their tally. Framlingham rather relied on a route 1 approach to their two dangerous strikers. On 55 mins that tactic gave them success. 4-3.
Seeking an equaliser, Fram were awarded a penalty, but it was scuffed wide. 59 mins – still 4-3!
Captain Seb headed over the bar from a 61st minute corner, and the referees final whistle on 70 mins was very welcome for the anxious Reds supporters.
Full Time – 4-3 to The Seasiders.
A good game, nice start to the season, all fourteen players contributed. Well done all!
Capt. Seb was coach Jasons’ Man Of The Match.
