Bacton Utd 89 U14 4 v 0 Felixstowe & Walton Utd U14 Red
Back down to earth with a big bump this morning at Bacton.
Brickwall Meadow was an attractive location, the pitches were in great condition, the sun was shining, what could possibly go wrong?
Captain Seb was unavailable, so Jason and Simon started with Oscar, Josh C, Josh B, Charlie G, Jack, Ellen, George, Sankerman, Matt, Nartey and Jake.
Subs:- Harry and Charlie O.
Although the first half was a fairly even affair, we were often guilty of misplacing our final ball, or scuffing our attempt on goal. To be fair to Bacton, their defence was well organised and when they got possession they moved the ball forward quickly to their forwards.
On 27 mins The 89ers got their first goal following a right wing move. 0-1.
They were awarded a penalty shortly after, but it was put wide. As the first half ended, Ellen curled a corner into the Bacton box, which just evaded Nartey at the far post.
35 mins – H.T. 0-1
Within 2 mins of the second period starting, we were thwarted at one end, and from the Bacton breakaway we went 0-2 down. We continued to make chances, the Bacton keeper saved well to keep Jake out, George curled an effort onto the crossbar, Matt shot wide &
Charlie O fashioned himself a couple of chances.
Charlie G hit a lovely effort from distance that only just went past the post. Despite our best efforts, we were hit by further counter attacks that we couldn’t deal with, to end the game on 70 mins at 0-4.
Whilst the final score line possibly flattered the hosts, The Reds will know they need to up their game next week, away at Kesgrave Kestrels.
