Lockdown 2.0
Coronavirus shuts down Seasiders once again.
Much like the rest of the country, Felixstowe & Walton United FC finds itself in lockdown again with all club operations paused for 4 weeks. From today, the clubhouse and associated sports facilities are closed and all football matches and training stopped from Juniors through to Seniors.
The Football Club is a big part of the Community in Felixstowe and during the lockdown earlier this year, everyone came together to support the Club and ensure it came through the other side. Supporters, committee, management, players, parents and sponsors all played their part, testament to the incredible Community that exists around the club.
The re-start of football In August was achieved thanks to a huge effort by dedicated volunteers to embrace the changes necessary to make the ground and activities as safe as possible. Despite the restrictions placed upon us, the opening weeks of the season were a big success. Football is a vital part of life for so many, from giving children the opportunity to engage in active sport, to supporters whose visit to watch their team on a Saturday afternoon is a form of escape, in many cases a chance to make, and meet friends, to enjoy the togetherness and warmth that comes from being part of the family at this special club. To have that taken away can have a devastating effect on peoples physical and mental health. As a club we support all efforts to reduce the effects of the virus, and hope this 4 week lockdown can have the desired effect and subsequently help lead everything getting back to normal as soon as possible.
The Club will once again take necessary measures to reduce the impact of the shutdown, cutting costs where we can and attempting to raise funds to meet our fixed costs. If you can help by sponsoring the club, joining the weekly Seasiders Lottery or monthly Red & White Club draw, supporting the takeaway theme nights starting with next Fridays Burger Night, or buying and selling Christmas Draw tickets we would be most grateful. Every little helps to see the Seasiders bounce back in a stronger position and continue being the hub of sport for so many in the area.
We would also appeal to anybody who is in need of support during this time to get in touch. If we can help, from a food parcel, to just somebody to talk to, we are here for you. You have all played your part in supporting the Club, and if we can give something back at a time of need we will do our best to return that support.
We will do our best to keep you updated with regards to the recommencement of football, and the aim to complete the season in full. As soon as we know anything, you will know too.
In the meantime, stay safe, and we hope to see you all back doing what we all love, sooner rather than later.
