FA Cup - Notes from the Chairman

Match Day Programme Notes

There’s a tune in my mind “Fanfare for the common man” (Emmerson Lake & Palmer for those who can remember)! and is my way of thinking “it’s FA cup time once again” and all the euphoria that goes with it.

This has to be the most exciting competition world wide and to be part of it sends tingles down the spine. How far can we go? I dream of the Seasiders making the first round proper….. now if that were to become reality well……!

I wish a really warm welcome to our visitors from East London and of course to todays match officials. I truly hope you find our hospitality meets your expectations.

I have just returned from a three week sabbatical on the wonderful Maltese islands but have been keeping an eye on what has been going on at the Goldstar ground whilst I was away. What a fantastic baptism to step 4 football with a thumping 3-1 win over Bury. That smile was wiped away after last Saturdays away defeat at Great Wakering however but that doesn’t mean the Bury win was a fluke or that we had an ‘off’ day in Essex. That’s football and the next league encounter (1st September) is one I am very much looking forward to. I was also pleased to learn that our competitors have been ‘nosing’ around the ground trying to glean information regarding  our new found coach Peter Trevivian (welcome Peter). Does that mean there is a hint of worry in our competitors? Early days yet but let’s see where we are come mid-season.

The reserves might be finding life difficult in their newly found quest in the Thurlow Nunn Eastern Counties League One but I am sure that after a settling in period they will do the football club proud. And I noticed too that the U18’s have had a cracking start to the new season. It makes me feel very proud to be a Seasider.

Next up at the Goldstar is Aveley FC on September 1st. See you then
