Felixstowe & Walton United FC Awarded Funding
You may be aware that plans have been in place for some time to make various ground improvements at The Goldstar Ground. Obviously construction work of any kind can be extremely expensive.
To help finance the necessary works, the football club applied for a grant from FSIF The Football Stadia Improvement Fund. This is an organization funded by The Premier League.
We are delighted to be able to announce that a grant for £38,154 has been awarded, allowing us to increase seating, install boundary fencing, upgrade the pitch perimeter railings and install a new area for covered hard standing.
Alongside the grant, the club has worked tirelessly to raise extra funds through initiatives like The Big Walk and Name the Stand.
Thanks go to many people but especially to Chris Daynes, who has been centrally involved from start to finish.
Below you can read the Press Statement from The FSIF and words from Director of Football, Tony Barnes.
Statement from Director of Football Tony Barnes
“Absolutely delighted that we have been awarded a further F.A. ground improvement grant for The Goldstar Ground. This not only confirms the success of our new clubhouse and changing facilities opened last year and the fantastic level of support from the community that it has generated, it is testament to all the hard work by so many people behind the scenes at the club. In particular Chris Daynes whose passion for the club is equalled only by his determination and desire to give us some of the best facilities in the County.
This is only one more stepping stone on our journey and I am sure even further development will follow over the next couple of years as the F.A. continue giving us their fantastic support.”
