Club announces Stuart Boardley’s decision to hang up his boots
The club is very sad to announce that Stuart Boardley has decided to hang his boots up after a great career. He has not been enjoying his football of late and feels that his future is stepping into the dugout himself. He has thanked Kevin O’Donnell and Ian Watson and both Kevin and Ian will, as mentioned above, be sad to see him go.
He has been a major part of us for the last 18 months and let’s not forget how he helped the club achieve promotion to The Bostik North last season.
Everybody at the club wants to thank Stu for all he has done for us and wish him well in what, in Ian Watson’s opinion, will be a successful management career.
Speaking about Stuart, Ian Watson says, “I have said for some time that (management) would always be his next step, due to the football man that he is. It has been one of the toughest decisions he has had to make in football and we wish him well.” Ian added, “We would all have liked him to have remained involved at Felixstowe had that been a possibility right now. His knowledge of the game and behaviour in the technical area is exemplary. He will undoubtedly go on to be a great manager.”
Stuart himself said, “I’d like to thank everyone at the club for a fantastic end to my playing career and for making me feel so welcome.”
