Junior Weekend Roundup

Update from the Junior Section from the weekend

Felixstowe U12's Red vs Benhall Badgers.
A very good performance from the whole team with the fastest goal of the season to the Seasiders by Max after just four seconds.
This kickstarted a brilliant 7-1 win with goals from Max, getting his hatrick,  Ollie with a brace and Hugo and Jack one each. It was a very good 3 points this week.

U14 Whites vs Needham
We hosted the league leaders in tricky windy conditions. The squad numbers on the low side due to injuries & Suffolk girls playing, but the team showed great spirit. The whole team gave 100% for the full 70 minutes and with a little bit of luck, the result could of gone our way.  In the end we lost 8-5 but the week-on-week improvement is evident for all to see. Goals from Callum, Casper, Zac & Tyler who grabbed two.

U12 Whites AWAY Vs top of the league IVR
A very windy day at St.Albans school with the game getting under way after safety checks done by double staking down the blown over goals.  We won the toss and choose the manager's tactics to defend against the wind first, and what a great defensive display by all the boys who saw us go in at half time 2-1 down with Oscar scoring.   We could have easily been 2-2 after a great run by Archie beating two  players and shooting just wide.
So we kick off the second half pushing up and with the wind with us it wasn't long before we were 2-2 with a great goal from Oscar and then again within in minutes, Archie made it 3-2 with another great play from the boys.  Archie split the defence and shooting across the keeper into bottom corner. Freddie Stanbridge should have made it 4-2 with a great midfield break away but only to shoot into the side netting as both teams continued with great attacking.  It was however great defending from our boys lead by man of the match Jake Webb and made it 4-2 with a great goal from our goalkeeper Charlie Newman, the ball bouncing over their defence and then the keeper.

U15s away to Whitton
We only just managed to get a full team out with injuries etc so we knew it was going to be a physical game, which it was. We were 1-0 within minutes because of an early error. We believed the ball was going wide, shortly followed by a second goal that appeared to be brought under control with their strikers hands which the Ref allowed.   In the first half we struggled for composure and lost our rhythm but we did start to move the ball and get on a few runs at goal. Jamie was pulled down on the edge of the box with only the keeper to beat then Whitton went back on the attack as we gave away a penalty making the scoreline 5-0 after the first 40 minutes. After a good chat we put the the first half behind us and started to play some good football. The game finished at 5-0 and 2 yellow cards to us. The boys felt they were playing against 11 plus a ref.

U14 Girls
W progressed through to the semi-finals County Cup with unfortunately Haverhill withdrawing, triggering an Away walkover win, so the double is still in the girls sights.
