Junior Football Notes
Junior notes from many teams from the weekend.
U7’s were away at Benhall Badgers. The first game finished 9-1 to Benhall, with Sam Novak scoring for the Seasiders. Well done to Anthony Warne, who showed great leadership on the pitch, constantly talking and encouraging his team mates. In the second game Young Seasiders won 16-5, with goal machine Oliver Durrant scoring 10. Finley Thrower 4 and Charlie Richer scored a brace.
U8s Reds & Whites - Away to Copleston Panthers and Lions.
The Reds played the Panthers in the early Game. Straight from the KO the reds passed and moved the ball with finesse and purpose. However one misplaced pass found its way to the opposition who drove and shot at close range nutmegging the keeper! The reds now 1-0 down calmly collected the ball, put it on the centre spot and reset. There was no panic or cause for concern they knew that they could win this! What followed was fluid football from a very organised Reds. When they didn’t have the ball they maintained their shape and made it hard for the Panthers to get a shot off. Having said that the Panthers were a solid team and battled on but the difference being the Reds took their chances. A great performance for every player on the pitch and a final score of 8-2 to the Reds. Well done boys!
The following game day the Whites took on the Lions. This was a very exciting game to watch with both teams very evenly matched. But yet again the Felixstowe & Walton team found themselves trailing in the opening minutes and again the composure shown after going behind was admirable. They organised themselves and battled hard! The momentum switched every few minutes from the home team to the away team and back again. It was a thoroughly entertaining game which had everything. It finished 5-5.
Under 11s Reds v Trimley Blacks.
Trimley arrived at Dellwood for this friendly fixture although all local derbies are keenly contested. After a bright start by the home side and a fantastic taken volley by Joe put us 1-0 up. Trimley regrouped and played some really good football and put us under pressure and soon equalised and continued to be the better side to score again and end the half 2-1 up.
It was a typical example of the visitors wanting the game more and were worthy of their lead. A good half time team talk with the tactics board put to good use the boys started the second half a different team and competing more and playing some good passing football. As they continued to pressure the Trimley goal several chances came but the goal just wouldn’t happen. Teddy came alive with two great chances one after some fantastic play to beat 3 players and his shot somehow stayed out.
Whilst we pressed forward Trimley themselves started to find some space behind our back line and had a couple of chances to extend their lead with Harrison pulling off a great one on one save to keep it down to 2-1. This spurred the boys to mount the last few attack’s and were rewarded for their efforts with the last kick of the game when Jake ran on to a through ball and slotted home past a very good Trimley goalkeeper who himself had make 3 great saves in the second half. Overall a really good game played in a tough but fair spirit between two equal sides ended in a fair result. The MOTM today went to the whole team 🔴⚪
U12 Reds away to Walsham Le Willow. Great start by the boys and going 2-0 up within 15 mins played with goals from Max & Hugo. We changed the team to get some subs on which did change the game with the opposition finishing the stronger team. Half Time 2-0. Some more changes at half time to put some fresh legs back on and Walsham started as they finished and soon had a goal back. Our team tried to press and get another leaving gaps at the back resulting in a free kick 20 yards out and ending in the top corner. 2-2. A change of shape and a bit more composure on the ball, we started to play the ball around well. A corner to us and Olly hammered it home 2-3 now as we kept pressing and some feisty tackles being made by both teams. Walsham put together a lovely move and made it 3-3. We should have scored near the end but a very good hard fought draw. 3-3 goals Max, Hugo & Olly. MOM Zack.
U12 Whites Away vs Wickham Market in a rearranged game.
On a very bobbly and patchy pitch with wonky plastic goals the first half was played out evenly with both teams having a couple of chances with one falling to Archie Dunne but he couldn't quite get a good shot on as he was being pulled back. H/T 0-0
Second half kicked off much the same with both teams defending excellently but with 5 mins or so to go Archie Dunne beat the defence with a great run but his fantastic shot was saved excellently by the keeper who could only push the ball away back into the box for our Louis Osborne to react the quickest and with a great shot goal found a Wickham defender who pulled off a great save PENALTY!
Up stepped Archie Dunne who burried a great spot kick to the keepers right giving him no chance the boys continued to defend brilliantly right to the end. F/T 1-0

League action for Under 14s reds.
1-0 victory away v Saxmundham with 11 players of which a couple were carrying injuries. The only goal of the game came from Seb Goodhand
Player of match Ellen Gee
U15 EJA
This just wasn't our day today going down 0-3 in the Quarter Final of the Suffolk Minor Cup against a very strong Needham Market team who have changed almost their entire team in the last few months. We gave away soft goals which is unlike us recently and didnt take the good chances we created. That's football we still have the Quarter Final of the EJA Presidents Cup away at Bigglewade in 2 weeks time to look forward to.
U12 girls welcomed Walsham to the Goldstar ground resulting in a hard fought but deserved 1-0 victory, clinched by poacher Evie Lake. All played their part again, proving it’s a squad game. Credit must go to the visitors keeper, who in the second half made a least four brilliant saves. Well done girls, we look in good shape for the final push of the season, along with a cup quarter final to enjoy!
U14 Girls vs IVR
We had a short journey to Greshams this afternoon for the top of the table clash. The girls started against the wind, defending well, working extremely hard on and off the ball with the game going back & fourth, but it was IVR that drew first blood. The girls continued to battle playing some really good football both as a team and some individual brilliance, it wasn’t long before the girls drew level with good finish from Holly Kennard.
The second half continued at a fast pace, with battles all over the pitch with both teams continuing to have chances, but it was IVR that netted the decisive goal. The girls reacted well, continuing to play together with the believe that this was not over, continuing to attack. A well organised IVR, soaked up the pressure and started to have a good five minute spell of their own were they scored a third. The girls continued to the very end and the score line doesn’t reflect how tight the game was and with a little bit of Lady Luck, we could have been the ones walking away with the three points, it’s just wasn’t our day. The supporters were out in force and the girls gave it their all, very proud of them all FT 3-1
