Woodbridge 1-1 Felixstowe and Walton u9 Red

Saturday saw the return tie from our first game of the season where we narrowly lost 4-3 in the last minutes of the game 

The game started off really well with both teams trying to get some good passing and moving going. Woodbridge where slightly on top but as a unit we defended really well closing the ball down to stop crosses and shots. The break came to us with from a long goal kick which saw Ross coupe have a lovely touch forward to pass round the defence to neatly finish past the goalkeeper. We went into the break 1-0. 

Knowing that Woodbridge would come at us in the second half we knew it would be tough but some good defending all over the pitch again saw us weather the storm only till a long ball of there own saw a Woodbridge player run on to dink the ball over our goalie for 1-1. The boys heads didn't drop and they battled well with Henry old closing down the ball all over the pitch and Dawson Coldwell making some positive runs saw the game come to an end as a draw. 

MOTM. Today we decided as a team and it went to Henry Old who really got stuck in and really helped his team all over the park.

I'm very proud if each and every player today for there effort and they way they encouraged each other. Well done boys it's a result to be proud of. COYS..

Woodbridge 2 - 2 Felixstowe & Walton U9 White

A damp and dull morning in Woodbridge was brightened up by two evenly matched teams in a game that was as entertaining as it was nerve wracking. The boys started the game on the front foot, trying to pass the ball as well as they could on a surface that did not lend itself to free-flowing football. However it soon became clear that our defence would need to be strong against an impressive Woodbridge side who seemed to attack in waves. Flynn and Charlie were more than up to the task, defending resolutely and communicating with one-another throughout. The match was end to end with both sides creating good chances. Unfortunately it was the hosts who broke the deadlock midway through the first half. Undeterred, the Seasiders then went on the offensive passing well and putting pressure on the Woodbridge back line. Just before half time the boys were almost on level terms. A beautiful team move that began in defence saw the ball passed around almost the entire team before falling to Harley, whose finish looked certain to bulge the net before agonisingly coming back off the inside of the post.

Encouraged by their efforts, the Whites were determined to take the game to their opponents and began the second half like a whirlwind. The pressure on the Woodbridge goal was relentless with the boys hitting the woodwork twice in quick succession. Their dominance would soon pay off, with good interplay between Daniel and Harley resulting in the latter finishing well to bring the boys level. Just moments later the boys found themselves ahead with Harley again finishing well from a good team move. The Whites sensed that a winner was on the horizon and continued to push forward. However Woodbridge also fancied their chances as the game suddenly became very open. In the closing stages the hosts stepped up a level and put significant pressure on the Seasider's back line. They were denied a winner though due to unwavering defending from each of the boys, including two goal line clearances from Harley. The final whistle was greeted by warm applause from spectators of both sides who had enjoyed an enthralling encounter between two well matched teams that had worked so hard throughout.

The fact that the home fixture back in August resulted in a comfortable 1-5 victory for Woodbridge demonstrates just how much the boys have progressed over the season. Their football at times was a joy to watch, and the work-rate and team spirit on display was absolutely first class. Given how well the whites had played as a team, picking a man of the match was far from easy. However due to his effort, skill and work rate it was given to Daniel, who has been improving week on week, and demonstrated that he is taking on board what we have been working on in training. Once again I left the game buzzing following a great performance. Thank you boys, and keep up the good work. COYS!

Felixstowe & Walton U10’S VS Kirton

Two good wins for boys this morning at home to Kirton.

The reds played well and came out 7-2 winners. George got a hat trick and one each for Kasper, Keaton, Ashton and Cian. But more pleasing than the result was the performance by them all.

Tyler and Charlie B were excellent down the left and created many opportunities for their team mates. The whites had a good start but were undone by a break away goal and trailed at half time.

In the second half they turned up the pressure and goals came from Oscar, Daniel and Jed. They then conceded near the end but held on for a good win.

Issac had a good game on the right and Callum worked tirelessly up front. Thanks to Scott, Roland and Warren for coaching and refereeing.

Also to all the parents and grandparents for supporting.

Training as normal Tuesday and next week reds away Kesgrave Kestrels in cup semi final and I will try and get a friendly for whites.

Felixstowe & Walton U11s vs Ipswich Town U11 PDP Elite

Our Under 11s went to Portman Road to play Ipswich Towns U11s PDP Elite squad.

They played 3 x 15 minute half’s. The boys played some great passing football and at times had their opponents on the back foot in all 3 half’s. In the end the boys just lost out to some well taken goals by the Ipswich strikers.

The boys never gave up and competed to the end which is a great strength of the team.

They enjoy the experience and were a credit to the club and have been invited back to play again.

Felixstowe & Walton U12 Whites vs Benhall.

With a pitch full of filled in rabbit holes it wasn't going to be easy, we started unable to string 2 passes together or even finding own players so we went 1-0 down, but we had a chance to make it 1-1 with a good break and Archie Dunne's edge of the box shot beating the advancing keeper to only go just wide, Benhall then went 2-0 after we gave away the ball again but again just before H/T but this time the ball took a horrible bobble just as Archie took his shot abling the keeper to save the shot H/T 2-0 Benhall.

After some home truths the boys were a changed side taking the game to Benhall pressing them hard and with some excellent passing it was 2-1 with a great finish by Isaac Smith, the boys continued dominate and soon Isaac Smith made it 2-2 then a great run and beating the defence Archie cut in from the right and his shot hit the crossbar and with the game hanging in the balance another horrible nooble Archie hit the ground as he when to shot again, now a very rare mistake from consistant GK Charlie Newham let Benhall as he saw his goal kick go straight to Benhall who quickly attacked a scored 3-2 with only a few minutes left Benhall managed to see the game out. Felixstowe & Walton U11 Red vs Coplestonian

Under 11's Red had an away day at Copleston school to play the Panthers. Very scrappy first half ended 0-0 with a couple of good saves from Harrison keeping the boys in the match. 2nd half the Panther took the lead through a mix up in the Seasiders defence and a 2nd and 3rd soon followed. A well worked move finished by Teddy McCarthy made it 3-1 but then another defensive error meant 4-1. A great move by Felixstowe finished by Zak completed the scoring. 4-2 to Copleston. MOTM Cameron for a tireless effort.

Coplestonians vs Felixstowe & Walton U14 White

We knew this was going to be a tough game away to Cops with them flying high in the league & with a depleted squad due to injuries. The game begun being played at a very fast pace against a big psychical team. Our midfield battle extremely hard, with the game being being even, but it was Cops that opened the scoring with a deflected effort just beating our stand in keeper. The second half started with everything still to play for as far from out of this game with a titanic battle in the middle of midfield which we were getting the better of, but we couldn’t capitalise on the few chances we were creating. Cops soaked up the pressure hitting us on the break taking their chance very well. Team spirit was superb, the team continued battling & playing some good football with the next goal proving to be the all important goal, which unfortunately, a fantastic goal from long range from Cops. 3-0 defeat, but very happy with the performance, definitely going in the right direction.

Biggleswade vs Felixstowe & Walton U15EJA

The U15EJA boys went all the way to Biggleswade today for a cup quarter final in the wind and the rain. I couldn't attend the game but I am so proud of them. 1-0 up for most of the match against a very strong and physical side an equaliser went in at the last minute to take it to extra time. Our boys rolled up their sleeves won 3-1 and at the end Biggleswade had 4 boys sent off and others booked. Ours kept their heads with no bookings. Roll on the Semis

Claydon vs Felixstowe & Walton U15

U15S away to Claydon. Started the game on top scoring in the first 10mins of the game with the finishing touch from Curtis. The first half continued with us on top failing to put the ball in the back on the net after betting the players and keeper on at least 6 occasions. They equalised on half time. We continued to dominate the game but still missing numerous chances. Claydon utilised on there few chances and put 2 goals during the second half. Finishing 3-1 to Claydon.

Felixstowe & Walton U10 Girls vs Branthan Girls

Under 10 girls away to brantham. A very uneven pitch and the grass could do with a cut. Girls played really well today having a lot of possession but were unable to find the net just the post . Brantham had one clear chance on the counterattack brining a great save out of our goalie faith but ending in the rebound falling to the striker again to tap into the goal. Girls did not deserve a defeat today but we carry on a learn and can't wait for the next game. ⭐ Player Katie. Result brantham 1 F&W 0.

Felixstowe & Walton U11 Girls vs Cornard Dynamos

U11s girls home vs Cornard dynamos. Away win 0-3 girls played really well and are improving each week. ⭐ Grace.

Felixstowe & Walton U14 Girls

The Girls in action midweek seeing them travelled to Ipswich for their first futsal experience.  The Girls were fantastic during this exciting tournament with so many twists & turns throughout the evening seeing them triumph beating IVR in a penalty shoot out to win the tournament with their reward of travelling to Biggleswade on Sunday 10^th March to represent Suffolk in the regionals.

Felixstowe & Walton U14 Girls vs Needham Market

No rest for the Girls after their midweek triumph, welcoming Needham to Dellwood which we knew was going to be a tough test as Needham seeking revenge for the defeat earlier in the season.  Needham started strong with them being a very well organised, drilled side & up for the challenge.  The game didn’t disappoint with both team playing some quality football going back & fourth.  The game was pretty even throughout, but unfortunately Needham came out on top after the 70 minutes with a 3-1 victory.  The score line flattered them as it was an extremely close game with chances for both teams, but we didn’t take our opportunities, but the girls battled hard giving 100% as always.  Some exciting games coming up for the Girls to look forward too which will be a real challenge, with a semi final in the county cup against IVR, Representing Suffolk in Futsal regionals, so we put this result behind us & move on to continue pushing forward as a team.
