Walsham Le Willows U15 6 - 1 Fxt & Walton U15 Red
Following a very successful 2018/19, it was the opening day of the new season for us, back in Div. 1. We knew that The Willows would be tough opponents and the longest away trip of the campaign.
Unfortunately, we travelled without our recognised goalkeeper, and three other outfield players due to injury, unavailability and suspension.
The first half began well for us, and expectations were raised on 10 mins, when Harvey threaded a ball through for Nartey to run on to, and he calmly knocked it past the advancing keeper, into the net. 1-0.
Walsham equalised on 15 mins, when we rashly conceded a foul on the edge of the box. The direct free kick was well struck over our defensive wall and past our stand in keeper, Josh B. 1-1.
25 mins – Fxt corner at one end, but Walsham leave three strikers up against our three defenders. The corner was cleared long and The Willows punished us with a swift counter-attack. 1-2.
40 mins - Half Time. 1-2.
All in all, not a bad performance and score to turn around on. Walsham probably upped their game a bit in the second period, and they managed to increase their lead to 1-4 by the 55thminute.
The Seasiders continued to battle away in all areas of the pitch, but couldn’t quite get their final effort in on goal to finish off several good moves. Jake appeared to be flattened in the Walsham penalty area after a long run, but nothing given.
It was only in the dying minutes of the match that Walsham flattered themselves with a further two goals, as the Reds tired.
80 mins. Full Time 1-6.
We look forward to having our four absentees available for the next league match and continuing to test ourselves at this level.
We like like to take this opportunity to thank our generous team sponsors UKCS Limited.
